** This post updates my photographic life, with information on autumn bookings and will remain at the top of my blog for a while… please scroll down for more new posts! **

As the day approaches where my new beloved moves from my belly to my arms, I’m taking very limited bookings this fall: no wedding bookings for the months of November and December, and limited wedding bookings for January.  I am happy to say, however, that I AM taking bookings for maternity and newborn shoots this fall, with a great fall package price.  So if you are expecting your own new beloved and would like to document this time for you and your family, then feel free to contact me via my portfolio link.

**  please note that newborn images such as these are achieved within the first 2 weeks (ideally within 10 days) of birth. although beautiful baby images can be taken at any time, a newborn shoot is unique and is best accomplished during this time. please plan ahead for your session with your expected due date, and contact me as soon as your baby arrives to schedule your shoot.  if the session is a gift, please obtain a lovely gift certificate in advance so the new parents can plan their photography session in tandem with the birth.  **

Here’s Genevieve and Jamie’s beautiful daughter Chloe, 3 weeks early and perfect…

lina and shawn - family

It’s sometimes difficult to describe what has occurred after some particularly important or transformative moments in our lives… and for me, the moments contained in these images have shifted my insides.  I absorbed each instant, each loving gesture, and walked away a better person for it.  Spending time in the editing process with these images has been a meditation on love and connection and the briefness of each FULLY experienced moment as I wait for my own child to be born.  Thank you Lina and Shawn for this wonderful glimpse…

judi and aaron - sneak peek

apryll and jonas

It was one of those amazing fall afternoons… beautiful weather, the leaves were turning, and I had my camera with me.  The best part of the day, however, was getting to hang out with Apryll and Jonas (and one darn cute bulldog!), whom I had only met briefly before, but I discovered have that kind of comfortable connection that makes everything warm and relaxed. This made for the perfect autumn day, as you can see…

stacey and katherine - engagement

This shoot was so completely relaxed and fun that it was hard to believe that I haven’t known Stacey and Katherine for ages!… In fact it was the first time I’d met Katherine, but it didn’t take long to see that she’s as full of life and enthusiasm as Stacey… particularly about their wedding next weekend.  If all of that love and bliss and joy and fun is utilized, then it’s going to be the best weddding ever to finish off my season…  Stacey and Katherine, I’m thrilled to be a part of your day… (and I can’t wait to ride around on the school bus with you!)

kari and boris - wedding

It’s almost impossible to get a bad image out of these two… the connection between them is so strong that it was self-fulfilling beauty for my lens.  It was the most amazing day, filled with a change of dresses, two tea ceremonies and lots of joyful celebrating with friends and family.  Kari and Boris, I know that I don’t need to wish you all the happiness in the world… it’s already yours… just take a look…

danielle and adam - wedding

Some clients make it really difficult to find words to describe what you witnessed on their wedding day… Danielle and Adam have that kind of love that’s so comfortable and sincere and understanding, that only a repeat of their vows could give you an idea of what these two share using words… Instead, I’ve got my lens and my eyes and my heart to convey the essence of the day.  Danielle and Adam, I’m thrilled to have been there to witness these beautiful moments… Thank you.

nicole and nate - wedding

Location, location, location!  This was my very first time on Gabriola Island, and after a rough start of ferry delays and missed connections, I was so glad to finally arrive in HEAVEN.  Nicole and Nate, I’m so happy that you included me in your wedding day plans… and whisked me around to some of the most spectacular spots for portraits that I’ve ever seen.  The day was perfect, from the beautiful outdoor ceremony to the wonderful speeches and public declarations of support and love from family and friends, to the amazing details… I hope you enjoy this little sneak peek!  Much, much love, my friends…

lea and dave - wedding

I know I shouldn’t be, but once again I find myself amazed by the infinite number of human expressions of love. Just when I think I’ve seen about as many variations on a theme as possible, I get to shoot a wedding like Lea and Dave’s… I left with my camera and my heart so full of this beautiful love that it’s still lingering around as I edit these photos. Here’s a few of my favourites so far…

Lea and Dave, thank you for including me in your wedding day… I’m that much more blessed for having been there to witness this…

farnaz and kourosh - wedding

A few of my favourites from Farnaz and Kourosh’s wedding… An amazing day with one of the most beautiful ceremonies I’ve seen this year. It had some traditional Iranian elements to the day, with a lot of very poetic touches… and dancing! oh, my! The evening was filled with so much dancing! I’ve never seen such a beautiful bride dance for so long in her heels. I tried to convince Kourosh that it’s tradition for the groom to offer a foot rub to the bride at the end of the evening… not sure he believed me, though. Farnaz and Kourosh, thank you for including me in your beautiful day… and for letting me see this much love…
