i’m so in love with this little man… thank you karen and mike for introducing me to to this beautiful soul.

- Thank you Karen and Mike for introducing this beautiful soul to Morgaine who in turn has introduced him to me.
- Wow, he is adorable!!! You've captured something special here Morgaine!
sean flanigan is a soulful (laughs easily), sincere (remains funny), motivated (claims to be lazy), and insanely talented (but trades-in arrogance for modesty) photographer. i’ve been hoping he would teach a workshop for years now… and the wait paid off. last week i got to join 16 super talented artists for a one day intensive flanishop-style learning experience. i feel more motivated, inspired, and happy about my work than i have in a long time. sean was an open book of information, sharing anything and everything we could ask of him in one day… and he covered a lot of ground. we delved into our motivations, fears, and goals for our work, walked through a shoot, and explored post-processing techniques. throughout the day i was able to form some new friendships, and left with a brain full of ideas and a boatload of inspiration. after you’ve thoroughly combed through sean’s blog, died and gone to heaven, come back for a little more inspiration from my fellow flanishoppers… there’s a limitless amount of talent here:
heather gilson | benj haisch | ryan flynn | jenny jimenez | michelle dearing | aga matuszewska | ben blood | jessica fern facette | james panegasser | missphom | jeramie shoda | ali walker | chris kirby | kip beelman | micah cordes | ron storer | kristen tourtillotte
on top of all of that, we got to have the lovely miss julie harmsen (also an amazing photographer… check it out) and beau andy fitts (musician extraodinaire) as our models for the shooting portion of the day. here’s a few snaps…

- Yay, these are awesome! Love the wide angle.
- You. Are. Amazing. Seriously, it was such a pleasure to meet you and I'm so glad you were kind enough to share your brilliant work with us at the workshop.
- there are at least three too many photos of me in this post :P
- I'm so jealous, I wish I was there!! Great photos!! Sean is such an inspiration for me... and you too!!! :)
- LOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEE. awesomeness in a post. :P

- Morgaine, it's so unusual to have both gifts: visual as well as the written; but you definitely have them both. You move and transport people with your art. So good to meet you and hear your passion. lots of love:) r
- these are so great Morgaine, I was so happy you sat next to me. hehe. your baby is so darling!!
- you. and michelle. and ali walker. and we're not even going to mention sean. i am entirely jealous - entirely. didn't even know about it till i saw this but this would have been worth the trip so much.

As I was editing Jenais and Rob’s collection, the same calm that I felt on their wedding day settled in a little further. There’s a lightness in Jenais’ eyes, and Rob’s smile. They were completely non-flustered and serene the entire time we spent together. Your love is a gift my friends, parceled out to everyone you meet. Thank you for that… the last shot is a little v-day love from me to you.
this post also requires an inspirational nod to max wanger… check out his incredible work and get inspired too!

- What amazing photographs. I love how you strive to create really interesting, unusual, almost surreal imagery while ensuring that the bride and groom still look fabulous. I am absolutely captivated by the separate shots of the groom and bride running for each other. Inspiring stuff.
- gorgeous.... just GORgeous.... <3
- so beautiful Morgaine!!
- LOVE this wedding!
I now believe it’s possible to actually see the sparks fly between two people… katie and dave, your love is an inspiration. may it guide you the entire way… much, much love my friends.

So as the stories unfold daily about the immense suffering being experienced in Haiti, my heart has grown in proportional capacity… in my ability to experience empathy, compassion, and also gratitude. Living in Vancouver, the thought of an earthquake is always at the back of my mind, especially now that I have a child… the reality is that much more vivid for me as I see images pouring in of the state of things on that distant island. My own home could look very similar in an instant, as the fault line here is “long overdue” for a major quake. So while I know I cannot live in what-ifs, I can live in the reality of the present moment… and this moment needs our attention and compassion.
Many photographers from around the globe are rallying and offering what they can in a worldwide swell of compassion and giving. What would have left us feeling helpless and confused as to what to do even a decade ago, now due in part to the power of social media, we are able to create something meaningful and broadcast it to the world instantly, and see results in a very short amount of time.
Switch Cities, a collective of amazing photographers, has organized a print auction to raise money for relief efforts in Haiti, and I’ve got a print listed. It’s their second one in as many weeks. The last raised more than $2600!! It’s the perfect way to contribute to the efforts… Donate money and take a work of art home. Win Win! So head over and place a bid… it’ll help me sleep better.
I have many beautiful memories saved up from this day… like the smiles on your faces as you press your heads together for what seemed like eternity during your traditional ceremony… the artistic cufflinks with images of an older generation… the way you both laugh and smile and seem so at ease with one another… or the look on your father’s face as he drove the boat up to the dock to drop you both to greet your guests at the reception. So many beautiful moments that I’m sure are in the hearts of your friends and family who were there to celebrate with you. It was truly a gift to share in the love…

She’s lovingly called Coco by her mama and daddy… here’s another glimpse of the newborn work I’ve been doing. I’ve been passionately shooting away, and working on my rebranding for my studio, and look forward to showing a larger collection soon. Also, I’m going to be looking for a few maternity and newborn models soon, so if you’re expecting to give birth in February, then check back soon for details on a ‘casting call’ session!

- I just discovered your work through the Develop group on facebook. I saw a comment where someone was raving about your work and had to check it out myself. I can see why they rave! You images are absolutely stunning. I don't know how you do it, but when I look at your images, its like every distraction in the world ceases to exist and all I can do is stare at that photograph and I desperately want to know more about the story being told in every picture. Superb.
we are friends but not lovers… yet.

- What a beautiful shot. Thank you for sharing!!
- So pretty!
